This book is by far one of my favorite! It is very sad and interesting. Once I picked up the book I couldn't stop reading it. The first thing I found really creepy was that Lanesha could see and talk to ghosts. I really recommend reading this book!
This book is about when Hurricane Katrina swept through New Orleans and is told through the viewpoint of Lanesha. She lives with her "grandmother" and can see ghosts.
This book starts of just like any other and then takes a surprising turn. Lanesha's mother died giving birth to her and she was born with a caul over her face. A caul is like a thin skin membrane ( that's how the book describes it.) People make fun of her because of that and think she is evil. Even thought the hurricane should have been the main focus of the book, I feel like it is about Lanesha growing up and learning about who she is and what her "gift" is.
It was very interesting! I love all of the features, it was super sad, very interesting, and once I picked it up I couldn't put it down! I would totally recommend this book.
